TYPE NIPPERWIESE

Made from veg.tanned bovine leather, with reinforced rim and wax treatment back and front for water resistance and increased strenght. Shape, size and pattern deduced from preserved bronze shields.
Central Europe 1400 -1100 BC. These shields have loops on the rear, probably ment for suspension from a baldrick. Would fit the Naue II and contemporary swords. Round, 44 cm diameter (model image).

TYPE PILZEN

Made from veg.tanned bovine leather, with reinforced rim and wax treatment back and front for water resistance and increased strenght. Shape, size and pattern deduced from preserved bronze shields.
These shields have loops on the rear, probably ment for suspension from a baldrick.

TYPE LOMMELEV

Made from veg.tanned bovine leather, with reinforced rim and wax treatment back and front for water resistance and increased strenght. Shape, size and pattern deduced from preserved bronze shields.
Central and Northern Europe 1300 - 1000 BC. Would fit both the Naue II and the Hemigkofen sword.

TYPE HERZSPRUNG

Type Herzsprung shield made from 4-5mm veg.tanned bovine leather, with reinforced rim and wax treatment back and front for water resistance and increased strenght. 73x70 cm
The type Herzprung proper was used in the period 1050-700 BC and would fit younger sword types, from type Hemigkofen and later.
